The blend of creative talent, technical expertise, and strategic thinking lays the foundation for successful sound reinforcement that satisfies the audience, and meets commercial goals.
When trying to reach an audience in medium and large indoor venues, an average PA (Public Address) speaker system just isn't going to face it.
It is an inevitable fact that there will always be individuals who experience discomfort or distress due to the loudness of the music and sound distortion of average PA speakers. The appropriate balance for a live event is dependent on its type.
People near average PA speakers are exposed to harmful loudness, while others on the other side of the venue may only feel the vibrations of the low end of frequency spectrum. The music is getting indistinct and muddled in this particular case.
When average PA speakers are turned up extremely high, the sound can be so loud that it hurts people's ears. It dangerously impact their hearing health.
An audio technician needs to become intimately familiar with the various elements of sound reinforcement systems: amplifiers, microphones, mixing boards, and signal processors (in & out delay, phase, EQ, crossover, compressor, limiter). There is no other way around.
